SoF-Day7: Fitness Test

I went into tonight with a bit of dread. Being that I'm on M/W/F we don't do a whole lot of focus on strength building on it's own (pushups, situps, squats etc) and our fitness test comprised of a 1 mile run, pushups till failure, 1 minute of situps, shoulder presses (with a 45lb plate) and chinups. We did not get to the chinups or shoulder presses due to running out of time.

The warmup lap was really good - we noticed we were all staying together as a pack for once. We thinned out towards the end but HUA! for unity :) We jogged the whole way to the start line, we did some warm up sprints/buttkicks and then set out on our 1 mile run.  I ran most of it, I had to take a walk break about 3/4 in because my calves were getting tight, but only for about a minute. I started jogging again and then a few of my platoon mates came back to run in with me and of course the last 200 meters that "race" feeling came over me (as I had a defined finish line -lol-) and KERPOW! I was off.  I really do think I missed an opportunity in high school on the track team for sprinting. Imagine how awesome life would be if I made the effort to see if I could run back then?

Pushups were a failure totally. My right arm is so trashed from Friday night and sleeping on it funny last night. I couldn't really support my own weight. I got 4 before muscle failure :( If I had been modified pushups I could have plowed through at least 50 of them which would have given me the "equivalent" of 25 non-modified.  I got in 18 situps again, not cool - I honestly do think I need to get my abdomen ultrasound checked to see where my scar tissue is because it pulls so bad on the left side. I don't know if it's c-section or what. IT SUCKS.

My goals for now to next spring when I sign up for my next sessions - pushups, situps and planks.  Get it done!
